There are three bus stations in Chisinau that ensure the link with all towns and villages of the country and other countries.

THE CENTRAL BUS STATION (GARA CENTRALA) is located in the center of Chisinau on Mitropolitul Varlaam Str. Busses to localities within Moldova, center and south of Transdniestr, Ukraine, Romania and Russia depart from here. For information call (+37322) 54 21 85. No English.

THE SOUTH BUS STATION (GARA DE SUD) is situated in the back yards of Chisinau on 146, Hincesti str. Busses to the south of Moldova and Gagauzia,(Comrat, Cimislia, Cahul, Vulcanesti etc.), south of Romania, Russia, to Greece and Bulgaria departs from here. For information call (+37322) 72 39 83.

THE NORTH BUS STATION (GARA DE NORD) is a recently built modern bus station not far from the central bus station close to the tobacco factory"Tutun CTC" and the biggest market for clothes, shoes and goods in Chisinau "Calea Besarabiei". Busses to north of Moldova (Soroca, Balti, Edinet, Floresti, Tipova, Saharna etc.) and Transdniestr (Dubasari, Rybnitza, Grigoropol etc.) depart from here. For information call (+37322) 41 13 38. The International Airport of Chisinau is situated at 14 km from the downtown.

At the moment 12 airline companies have flights in more than 18 European and Asian countries. Joint flights are also performed.

Buses, trolleybuses and minibuses (marshrutka) form the public transport of Chisinau town.

Single trip fares for buses are: 0,10 USD
Single trip fares for trolleybuses are: 0,06 USD
Single trip fares for minibuses are: 0,15 USD

The transportation fare is paid directly to the conductors or to the driver. Minibuses are considered the most convenient mean of transport as it covers the entire city, performs courses with a bigger frequency and circulates till midnight, others till 1 a.m.

There are plenty of taxi companies in Chisinau: 1407, 1405, 1406, 1408, 1471, 1430. The average fare for a taxi ride from my place (Chokana area) to the downtown is 30 lei (about 2,5 USD) and to the airport is 70 lei (about 6 USD). The cheapest fares are offered by taxi services 1448, 1433, 1430, 1472.

Transport by car
You should pay attention to the following particularities in case you decide to travel by car: Private vehicles should have insurance. The Green Card system, that contains the distinctive mark MD, is accepted on the territory of Moldova. It is desirable that the car driver possesses an international driving license, issued according to the International Convention of the Road Traffic from 1968.
